Each Katy doll and Katy teddy bear is a 100% handmade original creation, that is truly one of a kind! Although similar in design, no two Katy dolls or teddy bears are identical. Every doll and teddy bear is painstakingly "made from scratch" out of high quality 100% cotton - right down to the stuffing and thread! Each one is hand-filled with new cotton stuffing, carefully assembled, and the face is embroidered for safety.
From the manufacturer, Helen Turner of Turner Designs: " As a chemically-sensitive person, I understand how important clean, natural products are to everyone's health. The natural cotton used for the body and stuffing in our toys is finished without the use of chemicals, dyes or bleach. We also pre-treat the fabric by washing in non-chlorinated water and drying it many times using lots of heat. This process breaks down and removes chemicals, softens and shrinks the cotton."
"The cotton used for the clothing and hair is also carefully washed. We have made our toys as safe as possible without using any chemicals.
We are very careful with our sewing. Everything is made in a controlled atmosphere. No smoke, no perfume and no toxic odours. We use all-cotton threads and lace. "
